Case Study

Technology case study

About the Client

Our commercial client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of electronic products and services as well as data storage systems. The client’s product portfolio includes hardware for both enterprise and end-consumer uses that are sold worldwide.

Business Challenge

The client needed a tool that could scan through the automated test log files of their various hard disk drive (HDD) products and determine if a test passed or failed. The tool would automate the manual work of 25 operators on 2 full shifts.

Our Solution

Our solution was a web-based application with multi-layer architecture that scanned, validated, and parsed the text log files into XML and the data from the generated XML files into SQL Server DB. The product featured built-in intelligence to identify each product type and check for the results of the various product-specific tests, as well as the order in which they were conducted. An interactive web interface allowed users to run the tests and view results without scanning through log files.

Technology & Tools Stack

  • Microsoft .Net Framework for the application
  • MVC Architecture

The Result

Objectstream managed the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC) of the system. We built the application on the ASP.NET MVC framework, Microsoft’s tried and tested framework for building scalable web applications. Our team followed the Agile (Scrum) development methodology, embracing change and delivering business value in each sprint.
